Q&A

  • Do you go to a professional stylist to get your hair done?
  • Hardly. I’ve gotten my hair professionally done a few times throughout my natural hair journey, from about 2 or 3 different stylist, but have found some inconsistencies and would rather give my hair the tlc I feel it deserves. I am still open however, to finding the best stylist for my kind of hair.
  • Do you prefer to wear your hair curly or straight?
  • I think curly hair suits the shape of my face best, but I find I wear my hair straight more as it requires less maintenance and lasts longer.
  • How long does your wash-and-go last?
  • The longest one lasted me about 2 weeks
  • How long does your silk press last?
  • I’ve had a silk press that lasted me 6 weeks. Primarily because I was unable to do my own due to a medical procedure.
  • Do you experience heat damage from your silk press?
  • Before I was using the proper technique and heat protectant, I did see some curl pattern disturbance from my silk press.
  • Is your hair heat trained?
  • I don’t know if that is actually a real thing but my hair can remain straight once undisturbed by moisture and can revert readily on wash days.
  • How do you protect your hair from humidity?
  • The best way to do this is to cover your head while outside in humid weather.
  • What is your hair’s curl pattern?
  • I am yet to find out. I know I have at least 3 different curl pattern. Looser curls in the back, tighter to the front, and strange in the middle (crown area).
  • Are you mixed with anything?
  • Possibly. My grandparents on both sides had looser curl patterns.
  • Would you do another big chop?
  • I could see myself doing that but not at the moment.
